About the role

We are seeking a detail-oriented, analytical, and collaborative Cost Accountant to join our growing team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with numbers, understanding cost drivers, and transforming financial data into meaningful insights that support strategic business decisions.
Reporting to the Cost Accounting Supervisor, you will play a key role in supporting month-end and quarter-end close activities for the reporting unit while partnering with cross-functional teams across the organization. This is a hybrid position and requires regular onsite presence.

Responsibilities /  What You'll Do

  • Actively participate in assigned accounting activities and month-end close processes in accordance with US GAAP.
  • Perform assigned accounting tasks and provide ad hoc analyses, reports, and support as needed.
  • Prepare month-end journal entries, general ledger account analyses, and balance sheet reconciliations using BlackLine.
  • Partner with Operations and other departments to support:

o    Inventory cycle count reporting

o    Year-end fixed asset verification

o    Work-in-progress (WIP) audits

o    Sheet-to-floor inventory verification activities

  • Assist in identifying and resolving issues that could impact the timely completion of month-end close activities, escalating concerns promptly to the Cost Accounting Supervisor.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce costs, strengthen financial controls, and enhance accounting processes.
  • Maintain compliance with corporate accounting policies and procedures within assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Ensure adherence to all SOX compliance requirements and internal controls.
  • Complete quarterly reporting requirements, including Site Analytics and other assigned reporting activities.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree (BS or BA) in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant accounting experience.

Preferred Experience & Skills

  • Experience in cost accounting, manufacturing accounting, or a related accounting function.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
  •  Excellent attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy and quality.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders across multiple functions.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and the broader Microsoft Office suite.
  • Experience working with ERP and accounting systems; SAP experience is an asset.
  • Self-motivated and proactive, with a hands-on approach and a willingness to take ownership of responsibilities.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
