About the role

Who We Are

At Pepper Money, we've spent more than 26 years helping people achieve their goals. Today, we're one of Australia and New Zealand's leading non-bank lenders, supporting more than half a million customers with a range of lending solutions. While we're proud of our growth and success, it's our people, partnerships and willingness to do things differently that continue to drive us forward.

The Role

As a Credit Assessor, you'll play a key role in helping customers achieve their financial goals while ensuring sound lending decisions are made in line with Pepper's credit policies and responsible lending obligations. You'll assess loan applications, analyse financial information, and work closely with brokers, customers, and internal stakeholders to deliver timely outcomes and an exceptional customer experience.

  • Assess Loan Applications: Review and evaluate loan applications in line with Pepper's credit policies, lending standards, and regulatory requirements, making balanced and commercially sound credit decisions.
  • Analyse Financial Information: Assess customer financial positions through the review of income, liabilities, living expenses, credit reports, and supporting documentation to determine borrowing capacity and risk.
  • Manage Documentation: Gather, verify, and maintain accurate application documentation, ensuring completeness, compliance, and a smooth assessment process.
  • Build Stakeholder Relationships: Partner with brokers, customers, and internal teams to provide guidance, resolve queries, and facilitate efficient application outcomes.
  • Deliver Outstanding Service: Provide a high standard of service through clear communication, responsiveness, and a solution-focused approach throughout the customer journey.
  • Maintain Compliance: Ensure all lending decisions align with responsible lending obligations, regulatory requirements, and Pepper's risk and compliance framework.

  • Credit Assessment Experience: Demonstrated experience assessing consumer or asset finance applications, with the ability to make informed and balanced credit decisions.
  • Certificate IV in Credit Management: Qualified in Credit Management or working towards completion.
  • Strong Analytical Skills: Ability to interpret financial information, identify risks, and make well-reasoned lending recommendations.
  • Communication & Relationship Building: Confident communicator who can build credibility with brokers, customers, and internal stakeholders while managing expectations effectively.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Solid understanding of responsible lending obligations and the broader lending and regulatory environment.
  • Attention to Detail: Highly organised with strong accuracy and time management skills, enabling you to manage multiple applications in a fast-paced environment.
