About the role

We’re looking for a Database Administrator to maintain the performance, security, and availability of our databases. You’ll support database operations, troubleshoot issues, and work with development and infrastructure teams to ensure data is reliable and accessible. 

 

The successful candidate will be accountable for: 

  • Install, configure, maintain, and upgrade database systems. 
  • Monitor database performance and troubleshoot issues. 
  • Manage backups, recovery procedures, and disaster recovery plans. 
  • Protect databases through access controls, security practices, and regular maintenance. 
  • Support developers with database design and daily tasks. 
  • Create and maintain database documentation and operational procedures. 
  • Plan for database capacity, growth, and high availability. 
  • Participate in incident response and resolve database-related service interruptions. 

 

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications/skills: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. 
  • Experience at least 3 years administering one or more database platforms, such as [Microsoft SQL Server / PostgreSQL / MySQL]. 
  • Strong SQL skills and understanding of database design. 
  • Experience with database backup, recovery, monitoring, and security. 
  • Ability to investigate issues and communicate clearly with technical and non-technical colleagues. 
  •  Nice to have 
    • SQL certifications like MCSE/MCSA.  
    • Experience with cloud database services such as [AWS / Azure]. 
    • Scripting experience with [PowerShell / Python]. 
    • Familiarity with automation, infrastructure as code, or DevOps practices. 
    • Experience in performance tuning.
