About the role
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, which manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Design Engineer based in India.
As a Design Engineer, you will contribute to the design and development of electrical control panel systems for industrial equipment, including centrifugal blowers, compressors, and process applications. You will transform customer specifications and engineering requirements into safe, reliable, and manufacturable electrical designs. Working closely with project and controls engineering teams, you will develop electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, and detailed technical documentation. You will play an important role throughout the project lifecycle, from initial proposals and design reviews to manufacturing support and testing. Your work will help ensure compliance with industry standards while improving product quality, reliability, and serviceability. This opportunity offers a collaborative, international engineering environment where technical expertise, attention to detail, and continuous improvement are highly valued.
Accountabilities
- Electrical Design and Development: Develop detailed electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, control panel layouts, and bills of materials for industrial blowers, compressors, and process equipment applications.
- Control Panel Engineering: Design electrical control panels in accordance with customer specifications, project requirements, applicable industry codes, and established engineering practices.
- Component Selection: Identify and select appropriate electrical and control components, including programmable logic controllers (PLCs), variable frequency drives (VFDs), relays, transformers, circuit protection devices, instrumentation, and communication hardware.
- Technical Documentation: Prepare, maintain, and update engineering documentation, including wiring schedules, termination drawings, cable schedules, panel arrangements, and as-built documentation packages.
- Safety and Standards Compliance: Ensure that electrical designs comply with applicable electrical codes and standards, including the National Electrical Code (NEC), UL 508A, and relevant internal engineering requirements.
- Design Reviews and Change Management: Participate in engineering design reviews, evaluate proposed modifications, implement approved change requests, and maintain accurate drawings and documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
- Manufacturing and Testing Support: Collaborate with manufacturing and testing teams to ensure designs are practical to fabricate, easy to maintain, and suitable for inspection, testing, and commissioning.
- Quality and Continuous Improvement: Review designs for safety, reliability, serviceability, and manufacturability. Identify opportunities to reduce design errors, minimize rework, improve efficiency, and control project costs.
- Project Coordination: Manage assigned engineering tasks according to project schedules, maintain accurate project records, and ensure deliverables meet established deadlines and quality expectations.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Communicate effectively with project engineers, controls engineers, manufacturing personnel, and international stakeholders to resolve technical issues and deliver successful project outcomes.
- Education: Associate degree, technical qualification, or equivalent in Electrical Engineering Technology, Electrical Design, or a related discipline. A bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a related field is preferred.
- Professional Experience: At least 2 years of experience designing industrial control panels, developing electrical schematics, and preparing associated engineering documentation.
- Electrical CAD Proficiency: Demonstrated proficiency with electrical computer-aided design (CAD) software used for schematic development, panel layouts, and electrical documentation.
- Industrial Electrical Systems: Strong understanding of industrial electrical systems, including motor controls, PLCs, VFDs, instrumentation, power distribution, and electrical protection components.
- Electrical Codes and Standards: Working knowledge of applicable electrical codes and standards, particularly NEC and UL 508A, with the ability to apply relevant requirements to control panel designs.
- Technical Interpretation: Ability to interpret customer specifications, engineering drawings, technical documentation, and project requirements and translate them into accurate electrical designs.
- Automation and Controls: Experience with industrial automation and control system integration is desirable, as is familiarity with industrial communication networks and protocols.
- Panel Design Knowledge: Understanding of enclosure design, panel thermal management, wire sizing, and other principles that support safe, reliable, and maintainable control panel systems.
- Manufacturing and Commissioning Support: Experience supporting fabrication, manufacturing, testing, commissioning, or field troubleshooting activities is an advantage.
- Continuous Improvement: Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and process improvement practices is beneficial.
- Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and the ability to identify technical issues and develop practical solutions while maintaining high-quality standards.
- Organization and Time Management: Ability to manage multiple priorities, maintain accurate documentation, and deliver engineering tasks within established project timelines.
- Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal English communication skills, with the ability to explain technical information clearly and collaborate effectively with global stakeholders.
- Teamwork and Independence: Ability to work independently, take ownership of assigned responsibilities, and contribute effectively within cross-functional and internationally distributed engineering teams.
- Employee Ownership Program: Access to stock options designed to align employees' interests with the organization's long-term success.
- Performance-Based Bonus: Annual bonus opportunities based on individual and business performance.
- Leave Benefits: Leave encashment options and maternity and paternity leave.
- Comprehensive Insurance: Employee healthcare coverage through medical, group term life, and accident insurance plans.
- Employee Assistance Program: Access to support resources designed to promote employee well-being.
- Learning and Development: Access to LinkedIn Learning and opportunities to strengthen technical knowledge and professional skills.
- Employee Recognition: Recognition initiatives through Awardco to celebrate achievements and contributions.
