About the role

About Us
Montare Construct is a general contractor delivering building and civil infrastructure projects across Ontario. We’re part of DNM Group, a growing company of skilled trades businesses in construction, civil, drilling and mechanical services. The group backs its operating companies with shared HR, finance, safety and technology support. Our values are simple: safety, our community, and our people.

The Role
We’re looking for an experienced General Manager to lead a division of Montare Construct. Reporting to the VP Operations, you’ll own business performance from end to end: safety, production, financial results, quality, client relationships and team engagement. As we grow, this role may also support or expand into sister companies in the civil and drilling space.

This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who’s equally comfortable on a job site and in a budget review.

What you’ll do

  • Own the P&L and deliver revenue, margin and EBITDA targets
  • Lead annual business planning, budgeting and KPI setting with the executive team
  • Oversee project delivery from tender through closeout, including scheduling, project controls, quality and subcontractor performance
  • Govern estimating, bid reviews and change orders so pricing is accurate and risk is managed
  • Manage cash flow, progress billing, holdbacks and collections in partnership with Finance
  • Build and develop a strong team of trades, supervisors and project managers, and grow the next generation of leaders
  • Champion a zero-harm safety culture and make sure operations meet OHSA, WSIB and client requirements
  • Manage fleet, heavy equipment and capital investment for utilization and lifecycle value
  • Build lasting relationships with clients, municipalities, partners and the community
  • Track and report performance data that drives decisions across the group

What you bring

  • 10+ years of progressive leadership in construction, civil or excavation operations, including P&L accountability for organizations with $35m+ revenue
  • A track record of running multi-crew, multi-site operations profitably
  • Strong grounding in estimating, project management and contract administration
  • Experience leading unionized and/or non-union field teams of trades, operators and professionals
  • A degree or diploma in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Business or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • A safety-first mindset you can show, not just talk about
  • Experience with drilling, site services or infrastructure work is a strong asset

What we offer

  • Competitive base salary plus bonus, vehicle or allowance, group benefits, and RRSP matching
  • The backing of a group with dedicated HR, finance, safety and technology support
  • Real influence on strategy in a company that’s actively growing
  • Relocation support for the right candidate

Working conditions: Office-based with regular travel to project and field sites. Some extended hours may be needed to meet project deadlines.
