About the role

CampusWorks is seeking an Infrastructure Administrator to provide hands-on administration and operational support for client datacenter, server, cloud-connected, security, and network infrastructure.

The primary focus of this position is the administration, maintenance, monitoring, and operational stability of enterprise systems and datacenter technologies, including Microsoft server environments, identity and access services, virtualization platforms, infrastructure monitoring, security controls, and related technologies. The position also supports campus networking infrastructure as operational needs arise.

The Infrastructure Administrator formally reports to the Associate CIO and operates as a member of the institution's infrastructure team. Day-to-day technical direction, infrastructure priorities, work assignments, project delegation, technical review, and operational coordination are led by the Senior Infrastructure Engineer, who serves as the primary technical lead for systems, networking, security, and datacenter infrastructure.

The position works closely with the Senior Infrastructure Engineer, Network Engineer, Associate CIO, institutional technology leadership, CampusWorks Centers of Excellence (CoEs), other IT teams, and external vendors to maintain reliable, secure, and supportable technology services and advance infrastructure modernization initiatives.

Essential Job Duties:

    • Install, configure, administer, maintain, patch, and upgrade Microsoft Windows Server and related enterprise infrastructure technologies.

    • Support core infrastructure and identity services including Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, certificate services, file services, Microsoft Entra ID, Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, Azure-connected services, and hybrid identity technologies.

    • Administer and support enterprise virtualization platforms and associated server infrastructure, including provisioning, configuration, monitoring, troubleshooting, performance, and lifecycle management.

    • Monitor the health, availability, capacity, and performance of infrastructure systems; investigate alerts, service degradation, failures, and other abnormal conditions.

    • Perform and support patching, vulnerability remediation, infrastructure hardening, identity and access controls, certificate management, and other activities required to maintain secure and supportable systems.

    • Support enterprise backup, storage, recovery, and business continuity technologies, including validation and troubleshooting of backup and recovery processes.

    • Diagnose and resolve infrastructure issues involving servers, operating systems, authentication, virtualization, storage, security controls, and network connectivity; perform root-cause analysis as appropriate.

    • Install and maintain physical server and datacenter infrastructure, including equipment installation, rack and cable management, hardware replacement, and physical troubleshooting.

    • Support campus network infrastructure as needed, including switches, wireless access points, VLANs, firewalls, VPN technologies, network connectivity, and structured cabling.

    • Troubleshoot network-related issues and collaborate with the infrastructure team, including the Senior Infrastructure Engineer and Network Engineer, on network changes, implementations, troubleshooting, and escalations.

    • Assist with infrastructure automation, scripting, configuration management, monitoring, and other initiatives designed to improve operational consistency, reliability, and efficiency.

    • Provide infrastructure escalation support to service desk, applications, and other IT teams and collaborate across technical teams on incident and problem resolution.

    • Own assigned technical tasks and project deliverables and contribute to infrastructure modernization, cybersecurity, cloud, systems, networking, and technology transformation initiatives.

    • Collaborate with CampusWorks CoEs, vendors, consultants, and institutional stakeholders on infrastructure operations, implementations, projects, procurement, licensing, and technology lifecycle management.

    • Create and maintain accurate technical documentation, including system configurations, procedures, diagrams, troubleshooting information, knowledge articles, incidents, requests, changes, and project activities.

    • Follow established change management, security, technical, and operational standards while exercising appropriate independent judgment and escalating higher-risk or architecturally significant matters when necessary.

    • Provide after-hours support for scheduled maintenance windows and infrastructure emergencies as needed and perform other duties based on CampusWorks and client operational requirements.

Required Qualifications:

    • Associate's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience. Four or more years of directly relevant professional experience may be considered in lieu of formal degree requirements.

    • Minimum of 3 years of relevant professional experience supporting enterprise systems, server infrastructure, datacenter technologies, networking, or a comparable technical environment.

    • Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server administration and core enterprise technologies including Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, authentication, and identity management.

    • Experience supporting virtual server environments and a working understanding of enterprise virtualization concepts.
