Trusted by leading global hyperscalers and businesses, DayOne designs, builds and operates high-capacity, AI-ready campuses with speed, scale and reliability.
About the Role
You'll manage structural design delivery for DayOne's data center projects in Southeast Asia, from scheme design and feasibility analysis through construction drawing review and on-site design support. You'll participate in structural scheme design, direct design teams and external consultants, and review contractor-developed detailed designs against the project plan and design. Your scope includes structural technical criteria, tender evaluation, coordination across disciplines, technical changes, and structural testing and acceptance.
Job Responsibilities
Feasible Structural Design
- Participate in structural scheme design and feasibility analysis to assess proposed data center structures.
- Compare structural design options and costs to inform the project's design approach.
- Provide structural design recommendations and manage design teams and consultants through construction drawing preparation.
Coordinated, Buildable Designs
- Review construction plans and structural drawings against the project's design requirements.
- Coordinate with other design disciplines to integrate structural interfaces and optimize designs.
- Provide on-site technical analysis and design support informed by construction methods and procedures.
Controlled Technical Scope
- Control structural technical criteria to maintain alignment with the project design.
- Participate in project tendering and bid evaluation to assess structural proposals.
- Review and manage contractor-developed detailed designs against the project plan and design.
Structural Acceptance and Project Coordination
- Organize and participate in structural testing and acceptance to verify the completed work against applicable criteria.
- Coordinate technical changes and post-project matters to maintain alignment between design and delivery.
- Coordinate consultants, owners, government departments, suppliers, and contractors on Southeast Asia projects.
Job Requirements
Technical Skills
- More than 8 years of structural engineering design and project management experience in Malaysia, Singapore, or elsewhere in Southeast Asia, including structural design and management of data centers, large-scale industrial plants, or warehouses, and experience managing design teams and consultants.
- Experience independently completing structural scheme and detailed construction designs for large-scale industrial or warehouse projects; proficiency in concrete frames, frame-shear wall systems, steel structures, and underground engineering, including geotechnical exploration, pile foundations, basements, and foundation pit support.
- A bachelor's degree or above; familiarity with structural design standards, national, American, and British design codes, local structural approval and acceptance requirements in Southeast Asia, and structural materials and construction techniques used in Malaysia or Singapore.
Soft Skills
- Coordinate across design disciplines so structural interfaces are addressed in the design.
- Communicate structural design recommendations to consultants and contractors so they can incorporate them into project designs.
- Work with consultants, owners, government departments, suppliers, and contractors across Southeast Asia to coordinate design and project delivery.
Nice to Have
Experience in structural alteration and reinforcement.
Why join DayOne?
You'll combine structural design input with management of design teams and consultants, review of contractor-developed designs, and support through construction and structural acceptance.
Your work will span Southeast Asia projects, bringing structural design requirements, local approval processes, and construction practices into the same delivery scope.
