About the role

Job Description:

Overview

Our summer internship program offers hands-on problem-solving, direct project ownership, and exposure to operational excellence. As a Manufacturing Engineer Intern, you will be assigned a primary Capstone Project that directly impacts our Manufacturing operations. You'll kick off with comprehensive hands-on operational training, participate in weekly Q&A sessions with leadership across the business, enjoy team outings (like a Columbus Clippers game), and present your final project deliverables directly to Rogue’s Leadership Team.

Alongside the capstone work, interns participate in routine departmental tasks, attend team meetings, and work cross-functionally to gain a practical understanding of Rogue workflows and business operations.

Location: Rogue HQ – 545 E. 5th Avenue, Columbus, OH 43201 (Onsite)

Duration: 11 Weeks (May 17 – July 30, 2027)

Compensation: $30.00 / hour

Target Candidates: Undergraduate Juniors, Seniors, and Graduate Students

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead a high-impact 10-week Capstone Project to optimize manufacturing efficiency, line balancing, safety, or plant layout
  • Perform time studies, process mapping, and workflow optimization across heavy fabrication, laser cutting, welding, and assembly lines
  • Collaborate with plant managers, supervisors, and team leads to implement continuous improvement projects
  • Assist with troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and corrective actions
  • Participate in daily shop-floor continuous improvement, 5S, and safety enhancement activities

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited undergraduate (Junior/Senior) or Graduate degree program in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a closely related field
  • Strong knowledge of lean manufacturing techniques, value stream mapping, ergonomic assessments, and process optimization
  • Proficiency with simulation software (Arena, Simio) or CAD (SolidWorks, AutoCAD) is a plus
  • Passion for hands-on operational problem-solving in a fast-paced environment

By applying to Rogue, regardless of the platform you choose to use, you are agreeing to Rogue's preferred methods of communication (i.e. text message). Submitting an application, through whatever online forum is ultimately used, constitutes a knowing and voluntary agreement to send and receive text messages during the recruitment process.
