The ideal candidate brings basic CNC machining knowledge, mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and a strong willingness to learn tool and die manufacturing processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with creating and modifying Mastercam CNC programs for tooling, dies, fixtures, and related components.
  • Develop and adjust CNC milling toolpaths, setups, and machining sequences under guidance from experienced team members.
  • Read and interpret tooling drawings, CAD models, blueprints, dimensions, and tolerances.
  • Collaborate with toolmakers, die shop personnel, and CNC machinists to ensure programs meet tooling requirements.
  • Assist in selecting cutting tools, feeds and speeds, workholding methods, and machining strategies.
  • Use Mastercam simulation and program verification tools to identify potential machining issues before production.
  • Support troubleshooting of CNC programs, toolpaths, machining setups, and dimensional issues.
  • Revise programs based on shop-floor feedback, inspection results, and tooling changes.
  • Maintain accurate CNC program files, setup documentation, and revision records.
  • Follow established quality standards and safety procedures.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts related to tooling quality, machining efficiency, and shop productivity.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications, Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Technical certificate, apprenticeship coursework, or associate degree in CNC Programming, Tool and Die, Machining, Manufacturing Technology, or a related field preferred.
  • 0–2 years of CNC machining, CAD/CAM programming, or tool and die shop experience preferred; relevant classroom or internship experience is welcome.
  • Exposure to Mastercam or comparable CAD/CAM software through coursework, internships, or hands-on training preferred.
  • Recent graduates and candidates beginning careers in CNC programming or tool and die manufacturing are encouraged to apply.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Basic knowledge of CNC milling, machining operations, and shop safety practices.
  • Familiarity with Mastercam or similar CAD/CAM software preferred; willingness to learn required.
  • Ability to interpret basic tooling drawings, CAD models, and blueprints.
  • Awareness of machining tools, measuring instruments, dimensional tolerances, and precision manufacturing principles.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Good computer skills and willingness to learn new software and technology.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with team members.
  • Eagerness to learn, accept feedback, and develop technical skills.

What We Offer

  • Hands-on opportunity to build Mastercam programming and precision tooling skills.
  • Training and mentorship from experienced toolmakers, machinists, and manufacturing professionals.
  • Career growth and advancement opportunities.
  • Competitive compensation.
  • Comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, and retirement savings options.
  • Paid time off and company holidays.
