About the role

APM Terminals

At APM Terminals, a global leader in port and terminal operations, we enable global trade and drive sustainable growth. What drives us forward is a mindset of always improving — observing how work happens, identifying what creates value, and removing what gets in the way. We constantly look for smarter, simpler, and safer ways of operating. If you thrive in environments where people value learning and are committed to continuously improve daily operations, join us and be a part of our journey.

What We Can Offer

At APM Terminals, we foster a dynamic learning and training culture that empowers our employees to excel. Our commitment to improvement means every team member has the opportunity to develop their skills and advance their careers by continuously refining how we work. Experience a diverse, multinational workplace where your operational insights directly influence how we work.

  • Contribute to growth opportunities involving new terminals, acquisitions and expansions of existing facilities.
  • Work across operational, technical and project execution domains in a complex, international stakeholder environment.
  • Help strengthen a standardized, optimized and continuously improving business implementation setup.
  • Apply your project controls expertise across multiple concurrent opportunities and throughout the bid lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own and drive the development, alignment and maintenance of operational, technical and project execution scope within bids, in line with APM Terminals standards.
  • Lead the overall bid preparation process across the probe, develop and secure stages as the main Business Implementation Management and COO function representative.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders, including Investment and Finance teams, and facilitate workshops such as risk identification sessions.
  • Challenge business and technical content from an overarching perspective, ensuring a coherent, consistent and competitive bid approach.
  • Develop high-level schedules in Primavera P6, connecting technical and business operational deliverables to the overall project and business ramp-up narrative.
  • Develop cost estimates using input from internal and external subject-matter experts, including benchmarking against comparable projects and established norms.
  • Conduct basic risk analysis, support time and cost contingency development, facilitate scenario planning, integrate organisational or joint venture considerations, and secure high-quality tender documentation in English.

What We Are Looking For:

  • Continuous improvement mindset: we are looking for someone who brings a thoughtful improvement mindset—curious about how work gets done and motivated to make meaningful, sustainable improvements over time.
  • Leadership expectation: We are looking for people who consistently put customers first, lead by example with respect for people, deliver results with integrity, and drive continuous improvement by solving problems at the root, developing people, and raising standards every day.
  • Relevant experience: Bring 5–10 years of project controls or project management experience, including exposure to pre-bid scheduling, risk management, cost estimating and document control.
  • Technical foundation: Hold a graduate degree, preferably an MSc or equivalent, in a technical discipline, with experience using Primavera scheduling software and Microsoft Office.
  • Sector exposure: Experience in terminal construction or large civil construction projects is desired; experience in container operations would be advantageous.
  • Bid capability: Demonstrate experience in bid or proposal development, strong planning and analytical skills, and the ability to understand technical and commercial trade-offs.
  • Communication and collaboration: Communicate fluently in professional English, build effective stakeholder relationships and work constructively across organisational levels and cultural backgrounds. A second language, such as Spanish, is an advantage.
