Senior Manager, Software Development

Location: Vilnius, Lithuania (Hybrid or Office-based)

Position Summary

We are seeking a technical Senior Manager, Software Development to lead our engineering team in Vilnius as we evolve our core file storage and transfer backbone into high-performance, cloud-native services handling billions of data points at scale.

In this role, you will champion project execution, system reliability (SLAs), and architectural excellence, partnering closely with local Product Management and UX teams to evaluate architecture, guide disaster recovery strategies, remove blockers, and drive high-velocity engineering.

Responsibilities

• Champion the shift to an “Empowered Teams” model and instil a cloud-first mindset across the organization.
• Ensure code quality, service uptime, and continuous improvement in engineering processes, balancing project delivery and execution to deliver velocity without sacrificing system stability, SLAs, or margin efficiency.
• Directly lead and mentor a focused engineering team of 7- 8 engineers in Vilnius, fostering a high-trust, collaborative environment capable of navigating complex technical evolution alongside deeply experienced Principal Engineers.
• Use data and telemetry to guide product adoption, prioritize investments, and optimize costs.
• Partner with Product Management, UX, and leadership to align on strategy and deliver goals.
• Recruit, coach, and develop engineering talent to create a world-class development organization.
• Act as the team’s technical sounding board by guiding research, critically reviewing architecture proposals and disaster recovery plans, ensuring Architecture Decision Records (ADRs) and technical concepts are well documented.
• Identify opportunities to integrate emerging engineering practices, cloud patterns, and practical AI-assisted developer tooling to enhance team throughput and knowledge sharing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• 10+ years of overall experience in software engineering and technical leadership, with demonstrable background navigating large-scale enterprise or distributed systems.
• Proven experience in cloud-native software development, including transforming legacy on-prem solutions, or decoupling monoliths into scalable microservices.
• Proven experience leading engineering teams and serving as a trusted source of technical guidance.
• Experience of DevOps/SRE principles, multi-cloud architectures, and complex technical challenges.
• Results-driven, strategic thinker with excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• High intellectual curiosity and adaptability to emerging technologies and trends.
• Coaching mindset with a passion for team development and continuous learning.

Desired skills

• Experience with Kubernetes.
• Event based distributed systems development experience.

If you are employed full-time, the salary for this position ranges from 6,600 EUR gross (before taxes-Lithuania) depending on knowledge and experience.

This is a Hybrid role.
