About the role
Senior iOS Engineer, Drawings & Unified Viewer
About the role
Procore’s iOS app is used on job sites, often with poor connectivity, to open, compare, and annotate large technical documents. You’ll help move the Drawings tool and the shared document viewer onto a single, faster, offline-first foundation, and keep it correct as data volumes and feature scope grow.
What you’ll work on
- Moving legacy viewing paths onto a shared viewer, with staged rollouts and safe removal of old code.
- Offline-first sync and downloads at scale: concurrent sync modes, accurate progress, and local state that matches what’s on disk.
- Keeping the UI smooth under heavy background Core Data work, found through profiling.
- Annotation geometry that stays consistent across iOS, Android, and web through zoom and page rotation.
- Authoring that works offline, with durable upload queues and permission-aware UI.
- Deep links and QR codes that open the right content, including older formats.
- Swift 6 concurrency, analytics, and telemetry in a large modular codebase.
Technical expectations
Required
- Substantial production iOS experience in Swift, with strong UIKit and SwiftUI.
- Deep Core Data knowledge: context and queue discipline, fetched results controllers, batching.
- Swift concurrency (actors, Sendable, main-actor isolation) alongside Combine and OperationQueue.
- Experience building offline-first or sync-heavy features, including cancellation, prioritisation, and failure handling.
- Profiling and crash diagnosis with Instruments and crash reports.
- Experience integrating third-party SDKs with their own threading rules, such as PDF or rendering engines.
- Strong testing habits (XCTest, snapshot tests) and comfort with feature flags and modular architecture.
Nice to have
- Rendering or canvas work, including coordinate math (rotation, zoom).
- SQLite and full-text search.
- Deep linking, QR scanning, iPad multi-window layouts.
- Objective-C reading ability.
- Construction or field-work software background.
Why Join
- Hard, measurable problems: large local data, offline operation, and consistency across three platforms.
- Software used daily on active construction sites.
