About the role

Johnson Controls is seeking a senior production leader to manage a manufacturing area in Ciudad de Mexico. This role is focused on daily execution, team leadership, and disciplined performance across safety, quality, delivery, and productivity.

Role Overview

The Sr Production Manager is responsible for leading the assigned production area and ensuring the operation runs safely, efficiently, and in alignment with quality and business targets. You will work closely with Production Supervisors and cross-functional partners to manage staffing, scheduling, line balance, scrap and rework, and continuous improvement activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the production area to meet safety, efficiency, profitability, and quality goals.
  • Direct Production Supervisors and support personnel to deliver daily and weekly output targets.
  • Manage scheduling, line balancing, build control, overtime, staffing, and production documentation.
  • Review production and quality requirements, identify gaps, and drive timely corrective action.
  • Monitor scrap, rework, and downtime, and support actions that improve throughput and cost performance.
  • Support safety training and maintain a safe, healthy, and well-organized work environment.
  • Partner with quality, maintenance, planning, and other functions to remove barriers to execution.
  • Track KPIs and financial indicators, then implement actions that improve operational results.
  • Coach and develop supervisors to strengthen accountability, problem solving, and day-to-day leadership.
  • Promote standard work, housekeeping, and disciplined follow-up across the area.

How You Will Do It

  • You will own the area with accountability and integrity, setting clear expectations and following through on safety, quality, and delivery commitments.
  • You will stay close to the work by spending time on the floor, understanding daily issues, and removing obstacles for your team quickly.
  • You will use facts and candor to solve problems, focusing on root cause, corrective actions, and practical improvements that last.
  • You will improve every day by encouraging continuous improvement habits such as 5S, Kaizen, JCMS, and structured problem solving.
  • You will win as one team by building trust across production, quality, maintenance, and planning, and by valuing different perspectives.
  • You will lead with safety in mind, making sure people, processes, and standards support a stable and reliable operation.

Qualifications

  • 8 years of experience leading production or manufacturing teams in a fast-paced operational environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise Production Supervisors and manage performance across multiple priorities.
  • Strong background in safety, quality, scheduling, line balancing, staffing, and overtime control.
  • Ability to interpret KPIs and financial results and turn them into clear actions.
  • Working knowledge of continuous improvement methods such as JCMS, 5S, Kaizen, Lean training, and formal problem solving.
  • Experience coordinating with cross-functional partners to solve operational issues and support production flow.
  • Strong communication, coaching, and organization skills.
  • Ability to make timely decisions, follow up consistently, and hold teams accountable to results.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in a multi-shift manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with Johnson Controls manufacturing practices and personnel guidelines.
  • Exposure to customer-driven production and quality requirements in a high-volume setting.
